Merion Louis Henderson – At Rest

Born in a log cabin in Ozone, Arkansas to Perion and Nellie on July 7, 1925. Went home to Jesus on March 12, 2012 at age 86. He was a long-time resident of Roseville, CA. Merion was a devoted husband to Elsie, and a loving father to son Frank (Jan), daughter Barbara, stepsons Doug Locke (Melinda), and Chuck Locke (Beth). He was a proud grandpa to nine grandsons and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was proud to serve his country during WWII as Signalman Third Class in the Navy. Always a hard worker, Merion worked for PFE Railroad and Central State Racing Association. He also served in several volunteer positions: Treasurer for the West Capitol Racing Alumni Association, 15 years for the Senior Gleaners where he served in various positions inc. inspector, and for the last 20 years, served as a docent for the Maidu Museum and Historic Site in Roseville. Shortly before his passing, the City of Roseville and the Maidu Museum presented Merion with a Silver Star for his dedicated years of service.
As a last request, Merion asked that we all come together to celebrate his life the way he loved living it with good humor and good food! He asked that we hold a potluck with everyone bringing their favorite dish and their favorite stories. Please join his family at the Maidu Museum and Historic Site located at 1960 Johnson Ranch Road in Roseville on Sunday, March 25 at 2pm. (Published in The Sacramento Bee from March 18 to March 23, 2012)

Merion was my Granpa Caudle’s (Glen) Sister’s (Nellie) boy. Click the following link to go to his record in the database:

I haven’t been able to find where he was buried yet, but I have found a letter that says his mom (Nellie) was buried at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Fair Oaks, California.

Update: I located the funeral home that provided the services for Merion’s family, and they gave me the cemetery name, which I then went to on the internet, and found Merion’s Plot. All of the information is recorded on his record in the database. Please use the above link to view.

If anyone has any recent photos of Merion and his family, I would appreciate it if you could upload a few so that I could update their records in the database.
