  • Notes
    • DURING WORLD WAR II, IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN, THE U. S. NAVY SUNK A JAPANESE
SHIP CARRYING AMERICAN PRISONERS OF WAR BECAUSE THE JAPANESE
WERE USING IT TO PROTECT THEIR OWN WAR SHIPS.

ESTELLA WROTE MOM ABOUT LOSING HER BROTHER IN THE WAR. WE WERE
LIVING AT MARIETTA (LOVE COUNTY) OKLAHOMA AT THE TIME. AFTER THE WAR, I
LEARNED IN THE NAVY HISTORY CLASSES AT BOOT CAMP AND SAW A NEWS CLIP AT THE
PICTURE SHOW THAT SAID THE U.S. NAVY HAD SUNK THE SHIP CARRYING
AMERICAN PRISONERS OF WAR. THE SHIP WAS ON ITS WAY TO JAPAN.
